About the Role:
- To support our rapid growth, we opened a new facility in Brea, CA, last year - which is fast becoming one of the largest cold-process soap manufacturing operations in the country. This role reports to the Director of People & Culture and plays a critical role in continuing and improving our EHS program.Â
- This role will report to the Director of People & CultureÂ
- This is a full-time role with company benefits based in Brea, CA.
- The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $100,000 to $135,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.
What You'll Do:
Safety:
- Knowing, communicating, and ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and State OSHA regulations
- Develops and implements Safety programs, processes and training to support regulatory requirements and best practices
- Ensure compliance with all training requirements
- Establishing and driving the continuous improvement of a system to ensure a safe working environment
- Assists in the identification of Health & Safety hazards and the development of controls to mitigate risks including ergonomic improvements
- Conduct EHS audits; audit compliance to regulatory requirements; maintain and improve environmental regulatory compliance initiatives; evaluate effectiveness of EHS programs
- Driving the correction of audit findings
- Maintaining OSHA logs for reported accidents
- Hosting 3rd party inspectors/auditors and timely responses to their findings.
- Manage all aspect of the site’s workers compensation claim management program
Environmental:
- Knowing, communicating, and ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local environmental requirements
- Submitting all required forms to the regulating agencies on time
- Maintaining organized records of hazardous waste handling
- Hosting 3rd party inspectors/auditors and timely responses to their findings
- Maintaining contracts with 3rd party security service providers
- Performing investigations of reported thefts
- Maintaining the building's access control system
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage/lead the EHS function, providing strategic direction, leadership, and technical support to develop and advance EHS programs with a primary focus on compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements
- Provides leadership and builds partnership at site across all levels of the organization to foster EHS culture improvement with strategic action plans
- Works on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups, external to and within the core EHS team
- Provides timely information and guidance to the site leadership team, and site EHS council, including EHS performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses
- Drives action plans to meet and exceed aggressive EHS goals
- Develops and implements EHS programs, processes and training to support regulatory requirements and best practices
- Elevate important issues quickly to upper management to increase awareness
About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required, e.g.: Environmental Safety and Health, engineering
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Cosmetics, Personal Care, Food & Beverage or adjacent industry required
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory/management role in a manufacturing environment: evaluating, mentoring, and developing teams; managing workload; participating in the hiring and promotion of employees for multiple functions
- Detailed, organized, and structured problem solver, with an ability to get things done without perfect resources, under significant time pressure
- Ability to balance short-term tactical priorities, with a long-term strategic mindset
- Strong communication (oral and written) skills, with ability to influence across multiple areas of the business and external partners
- Demonstrated excellence using Excel or GSheets to plan and track performance, develop and report on KPIs and create documentation to codify manufacturing processes
- Fast-paced learner, problem-solver and self-starter, comfortable operating in a rapidly changing startup environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
