EHS Specialist I
Job Description
Summary
The EHS Specialist I is a member of the EHS team and reports to the EHS Leader. This advanced role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. The role will work closely with the EHS team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, Daikin requirements, and to promote a culture of safety throughout the site.
This can be a remote position but requires 20-40% travel
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify and address hazards and risks
- Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and training programs
- Support and maintain chemical management documentation, new equipment, and approval process
- Monitor and analyze EHS data, trends, and metrics to identify areas of improvement and support implementation of corrective actions
- Assist the EHS leader in the preparation of EHS reports and presentations
- Assist EHS leader in leading EHS committees and teams to drive continuous improvement
- Support and maintain the improvements of EMS (ISO 14001) and SMS (ISO 45001) document control and systems.
- Conducts or coordinates training to educate employees about safety policies, laws, and best practices.
- Assists site supervisors in investigations of incidents and severe incidents to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in the collection of samples for different testing analysis (i.e., storm water, chemicals, etc.).
- Assisting in the conducting of risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Provide EHS technical support for site specific initiative and projects.
- Promote Daikin's goal of zero (accidents, emissions, etc)
- Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in environmental health and safety or related field; Bachelors degree preferred
- 2- 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety or Manufacturing
- TapRooT, OSHA 30 certification preferred

- Mathematical - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning - High skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer - To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Technical Ability - Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with ISO14001 and ISO45001. Experience with testing equipment.
