Amplify is reimagining the way teachers teach and students learn. We believe technology can work alongside great and diverse literature to empower teachers to create deeply engaged classrooms and to inspire the next generation of critical thinkers and leaders. Come and work with us!
When Amplify creates educational programs, we assemble educators, writers, and instructional designers and invite them to join forces with learning scientists, innovative software teams, designers, and artists to put together a truly impactful English Language Arts curriculum that will engage today's students and teachers.

Job Description:
Perhaps what is most exciting about being a digital-first ELA program is our ability to understand how our students learn and what supports teachers need to drive that learning. We are constantly learning and reinvigorating our program with new content, new tools, and new approaches based on real results.
That's where you come in. Amplify ELA's highly collaborative team of content writers develop lessons that challenge students to read deeply, think critically, and develop and extend their ideas in writing, discussion, projects, and presentations. We look for content writers who understand both texts and teen learners; who are ready to think creatively about critical reading, writing, and discussion skills; and who are inspired by the possibilities of digital tools. A content writer's work includes:
- Collaborating with product developers and designers to translate a unit concept and outline into fully developed lessons and learning experiences for 6-12 language arts (English) classrooms
- Diving deep into a text pairing of a favorite classic with a compelling contemporary text and identifying and curating key sections that will drive student engagement and understanding of critical skills and themes
- Taking seriously the small details of how to word a question to draw a student into a text discussion or accurately assess a student's understanding
- Crafting teacher guidance and student supports that find the important balance between teacher autonomy, critical nudges, and highly useful embedded PD
- Understanding the critical balance between the need for consistency and the importance of variety in content
- Challenging oneself and team members to maintain the highest standards for the quality of the classroom content
- Maintaining consistency of voice and adhering to program style, vision, and philosophy
We are looking for people who love the small details of great texts, the collaborative back-and-forth of working with a high-energy team, and the big task of helping teachers and students feel engaged and empowered in their learning.
Basic Qualifications of the Content Writer:
- BA in English or Humanities field and/or strong content background in literary genres and critical analysis
- 2+ years of education experience in secondary education (high school)
- Experience creating challenging and engaging lessons/curricula
- Demonstrated writing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications of the Content Writer:
- Graduate degree in a literature or education-related field
- Experience creating curricula that integrates different genres, technologies, media
- Experience teaching to a diverse range of learners
- Willingness to try out new ideas with real teachers and students and return to the drawing board if needed
- Strong analytic reading and thinking skills
- Detail-oriented
- Comfort with classroom technology
- Widely read
We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. To that end, we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
