Amplify is seeking an English Language Arts (ELA) Senior Content and Instructional Specialist to help develop core curricular materials for middle school students. Our small, highly collaborative team develops rigorous, standards-aligned educational materials that support students in grades 6-8 to read complex texts, grapple with big ideas, and find relevance through lively discussions and meaningful digital experiences. To do this, we need people who "get" both text and middle school students, who are ready to think creatively about critical literacy skills, who possess a deep understanding of standards-aligned instruction, who have a strong ability to work with critical feedback, and who have an impeccable eye for detail.
Responsibilities of the Senior Content and Instructional Specialist:
  • Takes a leading authorial role on discrete curriculum and content-related initiatives, working closely with content writers and across teams to develop, draft, review and revise and finalize the initiative.
  • Build instructional materials that authentically align to Amplify's ELA's mission to engage all students deeply with challenging content while also providing teachers with powerful tools that help them understand and respond to the needs of every student.
  • Support the creation of materials related to bids and adoptions: standards alignment documents, district and state rubrics, etc.
  • Help create and maintain internal program and process documentation.

Basic Qualifications of the Senior Content and Instructional Specialist:
  • 3+ years middle school education experience, with particular strength developing and implementing a wide range of educational strategies in the classroom
  • Experience creating challenging and engaging standards-based lessons/curricula
  • Experience creating standards correlations, alignments, or other adoption documents
  • BA in Education, English, or Humanities field, and/or strong content background in literary genres and critical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and balance work on multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications of the Content and Instructional Specialist:
  • Experience creating curricula that integrate different genres, technologies, and media
  • Experience teaching a diverse range of learners
  • Widely read, with strong reading and thinking skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to receive and apply feedback
  • Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication
  • Detail-oriented
  • Comfort with classroom technology
  • Graduate degree
