Job Overview:

Elasticsearch Engineer

The ELK Stack engineer uses Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, FileBeats, and possibly other ELK Stack components to design and implement monitoring solutions.

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

• Designs, implements, and configures Kibana visualizations as required.
• Designs and configures Elasticsearch instance(s).
• Designs Elasticsearch indices to efficiently store data currently optimizing both performance and the need for growth.
• Configures Logstash, FileBeats, and possibly other ELK Stack components to collect and store the data necessary to meet requirements efficiently.
• Train junior personnel on the care and feeding of Elastic.
• Sizes and configures Elasticsearch clusters and shards.
• Develop Elastic alerting solutions using Watcher and Kibana or Grafana.
• Alerts that will have integrate into Jira for ticketing
• Develop Machine Learning (ML) job to dynamically monitor and alert on specific metrics and KPIs
• Follow life cycle processes to move solutions from Dev to Production.
• Participate in group sessions as well as attend and share in agile sprint daily meetings to track progress to ensure development of solutions is in support of the requirements

Competencies

• Experience with developing in multiple languages (Python, Bash, Perl, or other scripting languages)
• Strong experience with the full ELK Stack - Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beat agents, Machine Learning, APM, X-Pack and REST API integration. Candidate should have experience with large-scale enterprise level environments.
• Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems a plus.
• Ansible / Perl experience is a plus.
• 1-3 years' experience with CI/CD based development.
• To foster teamwork & collaboration with team.
• To be able to work effectively with virtual and remote teams
