  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires rotating shift work.
  • May be subject to rotational work assignments for extended periods to perform duties at various locations. Travel by military or commercial aircraft, boats and ships may be required.
  • You will be subject to recall in the after-hours emergency recall list. In the event of a major emergency or disaster, all employees will be required to report to their supervisor in a most timely manner possible.
  • Incumbent is entitled to a Remote Allowance.
  • Current California Class C license or higher required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of Electric Power Controller without more than normal supervision performing duties such as:
1. Controlling the generation or distribution of electric power in power generating plants, power distribution centers, and substations.
2. Operating power generation and distribution systems supporting industrial and/or residential operations.
3. Operating control panels that allow remote starting of diesel engine powered generators.
4. Monitoring voltage and amperage and making exacting adjustments to the system to assure adequate power for load demands.
5. Reading/analyzing a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal conditions (e.g. circuit overloads, improper line voltages, or equipment temperature, etc.).
