Job Description

Essential Duties:

Weโ€™re looking for someone who wants to quickly solve engineering problems in a fast-paced research environment.

Successful candidates will work with team members to understand the key problems limiting performance in a variety of laboratory applications, and quickly iterate through design, fabricate, and test cycles that involve electrical (primarily printed circuit boards) and mechanical (test fixtures, bracketry, etc) solutions.

Responsible for moving components through the entire design, fabricate, and test cycles.

Must be comfortable in a prototyping environment that optimizes progress and encourages fast-paced trial and error.ย 


Required Skills:

Board design and layout of multilayer PCBs with EDA tools (e.g. Cadence Allegro)

Mechanical design with with CAD tools (e.g. Solidworks)

General knowledge of applied electromagnetism and high-speed, mixed signal electrical systems (impedance matching, transmission lines, bandwidth and loss, etc.)

General knowledge of applied material properties (thermal and electrical conductivity, thermal expansion, etc.)

Experience with all parts of the design, procure, build, hands-on test and debug, and redesign stages of complex electronic systems or components

Willingness to engage with coworkers and colleagues with different expertise to understand applications, use cases and overall solution space

Ability and desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment that combines engineering, computer science, and physics.ย 

Above all, the position requires good scientific communication skills, a strong work ethic, enjoyment of problem solving, and an ability to span different fields of study.


Required Education:

BA/BS + 5 years or Masterโ€™s degree + 3 years in electrical engineering, engineering physics or related field, or equivalent knowledge gained through industry experience. Candidates with different experience levels may be considered for other positions.


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb ladders to use elevated test equipment. Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment, and be on-site at least 4 days a week.ย 


Special Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship.

Must have or be willing to apply for and maintain security clearance.


Compensation:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,715 - $150,895 + bonus + benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
