Tendeg LLC is a premier spacecraft deployables company. Our novel designs are enabling exciting missions providing high gain antennas for sensor applications and communications. We have 12 antennas on-orbit and 20 flight deliverables occurring in 2024. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar (SAR); and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. Title: Electrical Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $70,000 - $110,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

About the role: We are looking an Electrical Engineer that will support one of the following programs:

  • INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models
  • 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO, MEO and lunar applications.
  • Perimeter Truss Reflectors: Tendeg has multiple contracts to deliver large aperture antennas for GEO communications, SAR, and national security missions.

What you'll do:

  • Apply innovative design techniques to a solve a variety of engineering challenges under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Write detailed design documentation for use by other electrical engineers, other engineering teams, and external customers. Hold formal and informal design reviews with both peers and mentors as needed.
  • Use a variety of tools to analyze and simulate electrical designs, selecting the best tool for the job as needed. Generate schematics using an ECAD tool and perform layout tasks.
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment on both R&D and production projects. Complete tasks with evolving requirements. Develop ownership of the design process and an ability to work independently when needed.
  • Debug hardware in a laboratory environment with common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, and other specialized teams as needed to develop high quality, reliable hardware for our customers.
  • Design and document harnessing for flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Support the development of manufacturing, assembly, and test procedures for electrical hardware and harnessing.
  • Learn how to design space flight hardware! Dive into EMI/EMC considerations, radiation effects, and the unique environment experienced by hardware in orbit.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Key job requirements:

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar field and 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong ability to communicate with other engineers, management, and external customers over both written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrable knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Programming experience using C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.
  • Proficiency with at least one schematic capture/layout tool and at least one spice-based simulation tool.
  • Experience with configuration and data management processes and workflows.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience designing and or testing mixed signal circuit boards.
  • Working knowledge of layout techniques wrt signal and power integrity, mixed signal grounding methods.
  • Familiarity with signal integrity analysis using HyperLynx, or similar tools.
  • Experience performing design and reliability analysis including, electrical stress, signal to noise, thermal, and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Embedded Microprocessor System Design (hardware and/or software)
  • Motor controller design.
  • Working knowledge of EEE Parts selection considerations.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements analysis (RA), CONOP development and Verification and Validation (V&V).
  • Knowledge of NASA documents, processes, and practices
