Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
- Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision (SOE): Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as operating, and installation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, Interprets and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings; requires skill in the use of hand tools and a wide variety of test equipment.
Upon assignment to this position, must obtain a government driver's license.
May be required to drive a truck up to 5 tons.
The incumbent of this position has been designated as an emergency employee. The term "Emergency Employee" is used to designate those employees who must report to work in emergency situations. Emergency dismissal or closure announcements do not
apply to these employees. The employees who occupy these positions may be required to report for duty in any situation that prevents significant numbers of employees in the local area from reporting for work on time or which requires agencies to close all or part of their activities.
Physical Effort: Works from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and hard-to-reach places requiring standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 20 pounds, sometimes heavier.
Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside and is usually dirty, dusty and greasy. Occasionally
performs work in bad weather and in noisy work areas. Occasionally exposed to possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, and burns; frequently exposed to possibility of cuts and bruises.

Drug-Free Workplace: The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for DLA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
