Key Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing devices
• Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools
• Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes
• Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general contractors
• Provide cost estimates for electrical projects
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Train and mentor apprentice electricians
• Respond to emergency calls and provide after-hours support as needed
• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program
• Valid journeyman electrician license
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed electrician
• Proficiency in both residential and commercial electrical systems
• Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
• Proficiency in using various electrical testing equipment
• Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces
• Comfortable working at heights and on ladders
Preferred Qualifications
• Master electrician license
• Experience with low voltage systems (data, voice, security)
• Knowledge of energy-efficient lighting systems and renewable energy technologies
• Familiarity with building automation systems
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
