Job Description

Come join an exciting team that is using silicon photonics to build integrated optics capabilities for webscale and enterprise data centers, service provider market segments, and other customers. Our technology, design, and manufacturing innovation significantly improves chip scale and performance, while lowering costs. Cisco is using this technology across its intent-based networking portfolio, spanning enterprise, data center and service provider markets.
What You'll Do
  • Operate new assembly process in pilot line mode until required maturity is reached and transfer to manufacturing
  • Perform pilot production as part of maturing newly developed processes - with the goal of achieving required maturity for transfer to manufacturing
  • Help develop and fix new processes and tools for high-precision assembly pilot-line production using custom and commercial tools (e.g., active alignment, pick and place, sort, electronic mapping, etc.)
  • Track and report on new tool performance metrics, as part of tracking tool maturity and readiness to transfer to manufacturing
  • Help to build process documents such as work instructions, engineering specifications, acceptance procedures, control documents, periodic maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides, in support of newly developed processes and tools
  • Collaborate with operations team during transfer to manufacturing to ensure a smooth handoff
  • Setup assembly machine recipes for prototype samples and engineering test builds
  • Develop and refine assembly methodologies for process repeatability and robustness
  • Address process excursions/issues with a systematic approach to problem solving using 8D method and statistical analysis
  • Design (or help design), procure, and qualify assembly fixtures/tools
  • Qualify in-house pilot assembly modules for production release and support line transfer activities to manufacturing
  • Review manufacturing activities and provide recommendations to reduce cost and improve setup times, material flows and cycle times
  • Conduct process risk assessments and recommend actions to mitigate, test, and validate
Who You'll Work With
You'll work with Senior tool and process development engineers to help run and document new electro-optical component/die attach processes in preparation for high volume production. You will work with tool engineers, software engineers and other process engineers to optimize new tools and processes for manufacturing of Cisco's silicon photonics-based products.
Who You Are
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar
  • 3 years in a semiconductor assembly and/or opto-electronics manufacturing environment with automated equipment experience
  • Knowledge of machine vision, controls and sensors as it pertains to automated equipment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound engineering approach to decision making
  • Proficiency in statistical software tools such as JMP or equivalent
  • Must be a self-starter and able to run projects and tasks from beginning to completion with minimal direction
