Email Application Engineer
Job Description

As a member of the MarTech (Marketing Technology) team you will use your data, development, and analytics experience to influence the way Vanguard markets to our clients! With your voice, we can influence more personalized sends; crafting behavior segments in our client data to target the right message, design email for people on the go, presenting the most relevant content to them and what they need, and change the way we work to be faster, smarter, and more efficient.
In this role you will:
- Work within Salesforce Marketing Cloud to build, test and deploy simple email campaigns
- Collaborate with senior email developers and managers to validate work
- Conduct simple A/B tests to evaluate and improve engagement rate
- Import images, assets, and lists to Salesforce Marketing Cloud, reviewing quality and completeness of data for accurate delivery of marketing material to Vanguard clients
- QA and proof emails to ensure deliverability and quality
- Generate Adobe PDF proofs for internal client approvals and compliance requirements
- Collaborate on email performance with senior email developers and managers
- Work with third-party vendors like Return Path
- Partner with intermediate and senior email developers to advance your skillset
- Develop skills in Salesforce Marketing cloud and learn advanced HTML, CSS and AmpScripting
What it takes:
- Hands on experience with email coding (HTML5, CSS3), scripting and campaign execution
- Familiarity with AMPscript that will generate multifaceted content in email campaigns, utilizing Automation Studio
- Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility and email layouts
- Marketing concepts and metrics including code, design, and dynamic content generation
What Sets You Apart:
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other ESP
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Developer certification preferred.
- 1 to 3+ years related work experience
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Familiarity of Adobe Creative Cloud including Dreamweaver, Photoshop & Acrobat Pro
- Familiarity with design tools such as Invision

Future of Work
During the pandemic, we transitioned to a work from home model for the majority of our crew and we continue to interview, hire, and on-board future crew remotely.
As we have developed the path forward, we have taken a thoughtful approach that both maximizes the advantages of working remotely and the many benefits of coming together and collaborating in a shared workspace. We believe that in-person interactions among our crew are important for preserving our unique culture and advantageous for the personal development of our crew.
When our Crew return to the office, many will work in our hybrid model. A smaller proportion of our crew will operate in the Work from Home work model (for example, field sales crew); or in the Work from Office model (for example, portfolio managers).
