The Email Marketing Manager will deliver the comprehensive Email/SMS strategy for Academy Sports + Outdoors. This individual will be responsible for the planning, execution, and measurement of promotional and triggered Email/SMS campaigns. They will define strategies and roadmaps for the email channel, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of Academy Sports + Outdoors Go to Market (GTM) strategy. A key focus of this role will be advancing our segmentation and personalization capabilities and building out highly personalized campaigns leveraging our Customer Data platform.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field is required

Work Experiences:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing and executing email marketing campaigns
  • Prior experience in retail or CPG preferred
  • Prior experience working with an email service provider (ESP)

Skills:

  • Proficient in creating and setting up email campaigns, as well as extracting analytics and reports from ESP platforms
  • Strong background in managing high-volume and multifaceted email programs, including reporting on results
  • Thorough understanding of email performance metrics
  • Expertise in Email/SMS metrics and ROI analysis to effectively report to leadership
  • Knowledge of HTML and basic coding for email marketing
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze reporting using tools like Google Analytics, Adobe, and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate information that influences data-driven business decisions
  • Proven experience in an email management function and outstanding attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of campaign strategies and tactics to drive traffic and sales growth through Email and SMS
  • Develop and maintain email strategies, marketing calendars, campaign plans, and deployment processes
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to create and implement strategies for list growth, health, and increased engagement
  • Utilize the Customer Data Platform to identify target audiences and align them to business objectives
  • Create personalized and contextual experiences to increase customer retention
  • Create and manage reporting and analytics to track channel performance, share key insights, and strategic learnings
  • Drive continuous improvement across email KPIs including deliverability, engagement rates, conversion rates, opt-out rates, and revenue
  • Maintain and optimize a testing agenda for A/B testing frameworks
  • Be knowledgeable on Email/SMS best practices, technologies, and trends
  • Manage Email/SMS marketing team
