OVERVIEW & IMPACT:

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Diego is seeking an experienced engineer to join the team which is responsible for developing the software for next generation mobile platforms.

The ideal candidate should have passion for writing quality code and will be working on the deployment and optimization of the deep learning algorithms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define requirements for new features with the customer
• Design efficient pipelines that implement image and video processing algorithms
• Profile and optimize image and video processing algorithms
• Implement image/video processing algorithms on heterogeneous systems with CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP, custom HW accelerators

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong programming skills in C/C++ with experience in developing latency-critical software.
• Practical experience with implementing and optimizing workloads related to neural network inference on dedicated HW accelerators (such as NPU - Neural Processing Unit)
• Deep knowledge of computer architecture (i.e. CPU, GPU, NPU) fundamentals with an excellent understanding of the interaction between software and hardware.
• Deep understanding of practical operating system concepts, specifically embedded application design and implementation, and developing and debugging multithreaded applications.
• Experience in development, optimization and parallelization of algorithms.
• Experience with investigating hardware/software tradeoffs to identify performance bottlenecks in the system and take ownership of the related optimizations.
• Proven track record of developing solutions for camera, image/video processing and computer vision applications.
• Excellent communication skills with a strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
• A strong team player, self-motivated and positive attitude.
• BS/MS with extensive industry experience or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

PREFERED SKILLS

• Knowledgeable in heterogeneous compute programming APIs (e.g. CUDA, OpenCL).
• Demonstrated ability to take neural network models from concept to production with in-depth knowledge in Deep Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and Caffe.
• Familiarity neural network acceleration techniques such as compression, quantization and pruning.
• BS + 3 years of exp | MS + 1 of exp
