Embedded DevOps/QA Engineer

About the Role

We’re looking for an Embedded DevOps Engineer (Linux based) to help us manage and improve our large network of smart home devices. You will work with our existing team to deploy new firmware, recognize and fix problem devices, and do configuration management.

You will also be expected to:

• Work with other engineers, including Brivo employees and contractors. Collaboration involves both hardware and software
• Lead and mentor junior staff
• Communicate with project managers and stakeholders regarding timelines and project difficulties as they arise
• Travel occasionally, domestic and foreign

About You

• 5+ years of relevant on-the-job experience
• Experience managing linux systems remotely
• Expertise with Linux Package Management tools such as apt, dpkg
• Experience with incident response--following communication processes and performing root cause analysis
• Experience in scripting for the BASH environment
• Experience with networked environments such as ability to modify routing tables, remote administration, query DNS records, configure filesystems
• Familiarity with partition tables and mounting paradigms
• Experience using systemd, etc
• Familiarity with principles of cyber security and system hardening
• Ability to diagnose system issues remotely, post mortem log analysis, etc
• Ability to document issues and communicate effectively with teammates

• Docker/Containerization Experience
• Experience with cloud data analysis, e.g. working in 
• Experience with embedded configuration management tools such as Ansible, Balena, etc
• Experience building from source, Jenkins pipelines, etc
