Embedded Engineer

Job Duties:

• Define and implement embedded system software for multiple CPUs in a state-of-the-art autonomous vehicle computing platform.
• Develop low-level firmware for micro-controllers and engage in hardware validation and system bring-up and testing.
• Support software design workflow by setting up toolchains, developing automation processes, and integrating the developed process into a team-wide workflow.
• Integrate embedded software components to a system-level software stack.
• Develop CAN, Ethernet, diagnostic stack for the board control and vehicle control application of the autonomous driving unit.
• Design and implement OTA ("Over the Air") firmware upgrade features that update a vehicle with new software through wireless communication.
• Design embedded software for the automotive safety control algorithms and hardware management functions.
• Enhance software observability and traceability for safety control and system management runtime software.
• Deliver and maintain a highly stable, highly efficient, and easy-to-use software platform for other engineering teams for product development and quality assurance.
• Document the work processes and collaborate with other engineering team members to improve engineering workflow in compliance with ISO 26262 safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 1 year of experience as Associate Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Embedded Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, or a related occupation required. Employer accepts experience gained before, during, or after graduate studies.

The required work experience must include 1 year of experience with the following:

• Diagnostics software development for automotive safety control functions;
• Using HIL, SIL and MIL Testing Framework;
• Demonstrated Knowledge of RTOS (Real Time Operating System) Concepts, Functional Safety ISO 26262;
• Automotive Communication Protocols and Stack: CAN, SPI, UDS, and UART to support intra-ECU and Inter-ECU Communication;
• Embedded software design, development and validation for Safety-Critical Automotive Systems;
• Software programming using C and MATLAB; and
• Software debugging.
