Embryologist/Reproductive Scientist

Colossal is looking for a Researcher to spearhead groundbreaking research on techniques of embryo manipulation in non-model organisms. This role works with talented reproductive biologists to continue to develop, implement, and maintain strategic plans of the embryology department. This position reports to the head of biological sciences.

**This position is based out of Dallas, TX and relocation assistance is available**

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Somatic Cells Nuclear Transfer in non-model organisms
• In vitro fertilization 
• Microinjection of DNA constructs, and gene editing reagents into early embryos to create novel transgenic or gene-edited lines
• Electroporation of CRISPR gene editing reagents into 1- or 2-cell embryos
• Cell culture and injection of gene-targeted ES cells to produce germline chimeras for the establishment of novel lines
• Conduct embryo transfer surgeries into the reproductive tract of non-model organisms
• Cryopreservation and recovery of oocytes and embryos
• Animal husbandry necessary for the performance of other duties listed above
• Assist in the development and/or implementation of new research protocols as they become available in the field of genetics and reproductive biology of non-model organisms
• Some traveling required for training and implementing novel assisted reproductive technologies into non-model organisms

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong expertise in IVF, nuclear transfer, microinjection and cryopreservation and reproductive biology workflows 
• Strong communication skills (written/verbal)
• At least three years of experience in the generation of genetically engineered model organisms (nuclear transfer, pronuclear and cytoplasmic injections of one-cell zygotes, electroporation of embryos, and ES cell injections blastocysts)

Education and Experience:

• MS/DVM/PHD in biological sciences, veterinary medicine, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or any science related field.
