Emerging Business Manager
Job Description
The Analog Garage is a high-energy, fast-paced advanced R&D team within Analog Devices (ADI) which develops ground-breaking products at our downtown Boston location. Its mission is to identify and develop new technologies, capabilities, and business models critical to Analog Devices' future success. The projects we work on span several exciting domains including artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D imaging, green energy, human-machine interfaces, advanced bio-sensors and more.
As an Emerging Business Manager in the Analog Garage, you will lead strategy formation and drive commercial execution around a series of emerging technology projects. Your ultimate objective is to commercialize and scale these new technologies - creating new businesses for Analog Devices.
You will drive strategy and decision-making in all project phases: new project selection, early R&D, MVP design, go-to-market, and business scaling. And you will work with R&D teams to decide which features or performance attributes are most likely to determine project success.
Many of our projects are done in tight collaboration with internal ADI business units (BUs). Building solid relationships with these teams and understanding their business, applications, and customers are critical to the Garage's success. In many cases, you'll be working closely with these groups to align on commercialization strategy and paths to market.
You will be expected to synthesize, communicate, and execute strategic plans for the projects you'll be running. Activities you'll be driving include:
- Conducting customer discovery to understand established and emerging customer needs
- Researching industry, technology and application trends
- Assessing the competitive landscape and how it is evolving
- Defining our value proposition and how we sustain an advantage
- Analyzing the ecosystem and defining partnership opportunities
- Planning our path to market and commercialization
- Collaborating and coordinating with teams across the company while building support for your strategic plans and vision
In your first year, you will develop a complete business strategy for a new Analog Garage project. Additionally, you'll also take business ownership of 2-3 existing projects and will continue to execute and evolve the business strategy associated with these projects.
For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. As such, applicants for this position - except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) - may have to go through an export licensing review process.
