Job Description

WW is looking for candidates to help change people's lives. We are a global wellness technology company inspiring millions of people to adopt healthy habits for real life. We do this through engaging digital experiences, face-to-face workshops and sustainable programs that encourage people to move more, shift their mindset and eat healthier while enjoying the foods they love. By drawing on over five decades of experience and expertise in behavioral science, we build communities in order to deliver wellness for all.
Who we are
Our strong basis in science forms the foundation for why WW is the world's trusted leader in weight health. As thought leaders, the WW Science team plays an integral role in co-creating member experiences, program innovations, engaging content, Coach training, and clinical research to help people lose weight and build healthy habits. You will be joining a dynamic team of experts who define the WW research-backed points of view on nutrition, activity, and behavior change. You'll partner with cross-functional teams and the scientific community, have hands-on ownership of meaningful projects, and collaborate closely with your Science team colleagues.
What you will do
When a friend sends you a popular news article about a recent research finding, are you interested in going beyond the headlines to the real Science? Do you enjoy applying science to help people change their habits and improve their health? When assigned a project, do you jump in feet first - analyzing the objectives and potential solves from all angles? Then, this role might be the perfect opportunity for you.
As Emerging Science Researcher, you'll serve as a thought leader for the organization, reviewing and synthesizing scientific research to inform new opportunity areas and initiatives. You'll help inform future directions of the business by summarizing the latest scientific findings in the weight management and behavioral health space. You'll work closely with cross-functional colleagues to understand the innovative ideas they want to explore, so you can ascertain the scientific merits and make recommendations for next steps (e.g., go/no go; testing; further research; convening expert panels; etc). You'll identify scientific knowledge gaps, especially in areas of health and wellbeing with high consumer interest, to help the organization decide which trends are worth further investigation and which are not. And, you'll stay up to date on the current literature to ensure that WW remains the science-based brand that consumers and healthcare providers trust.
  • Summarize academic literature, expert POVs, and recent research findings (e.g., presented at conferences) and create points-of-view ( POVs) on key topic areas that will strategically support the direction of the business.
  • Partner with and advise cross-functional colleagues to ensure that the programs and content they create remains accurate and demonstrates a consistent science-based POV.
  • Develop processes and strategies that ensure your colleagues have the science-backed information they need in digestible, actionable ways.
  • Regularly review recent publications and reports in key focus areas to ensure WW's current offerings remain science-backed and disseminate new findings (and how to make sense of them) to organizational stakeholders.
  • Support WW's research teams in designing research surveys and interpreting data based on project demand.

Who you are
  • PhD in health behavior change, kinesiology, nutrition or related field; highly qualified master's level candidates will be considered.
  • Subject Matter Expert in behavioral weight management with a strong working knowledge of behavioral interventions, nutrition, and physical activity.
  • 3+ years experience applying scientific findings in the industry/tech/digital space.
  • Extensive experience conducting scientific research and literature reviews and translating scientific findings into weight management and/or health offerings.
  • Contributes and thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Openness to innovation with the ability to challenge ideas when necessary to ensure that we maintain fidelity to the scientific foundation on which the brand is built.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to navigate, understand, and translate the scientific literature, effectively provide feedback, and create accurate, detailed, concise materials for a variety of audiences
  • The ability to work with experts in various scientific fields.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to details and ability to connect dots between various projects and findings.

Base salary may vary depending on, but not limited to: skills, experience, and location. Base Salary - $100,000-$115,000
