This Opportunity

WSP is currently hiring for an Emerging Tech Consultant for our Washington, DC office with an expectation for two days onsite with the client. Be involved in strategic projects with our National Fleet and Facilities Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Travel Required: Two (2) days per week onsite.

Your Impact
  • Selected candidate will be a part of a team leading zero-emission fleet transitions across North America. This is a fast-paced and rewarding environment collaborating with some of the best engineers and architects in the industry.
  • Selected candidate will also co-develop aspects of the new Emerging Technology Department such as Connection Protection, vehicle automation, and analytical tools to help WSP colleagues globally.
  • As this team is delivering cutting edge solutions, candidates should have an interest in market research, presentation development, and new business initiatives to help grow department capabilities and new business opportunities.
  • The candidate will be a "seller/doer" capable of best practices in project delivery while also succinctly sharing technical information with clientele.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact well with others on teams as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals.
  • Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning, Project Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a transit or transportation planning field.
  • In-depth transit ITS experience with AVL, APC, and AFC transit systems.
  • A firm understanding and ability to assess transit system performance using efficient data analysis tools.
  • Prior experience leading client initiatives and creating, presenting solutions.
  • Passion for public transit and demonstrated excellence within the mobility sector.
  • Proven experience assessing and creating digital solutions with real-time arrival systems which includes the ability to assess service performance against established KPIs.
  • In-depth experience with industry data standards such as the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS).
  • Familiarity with zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure solutions and interdependencies.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a logical and orderly manner.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to supervisors and senior staff.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Project.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced in the implementation of a zero emission transit programs and/or projects.
  • Advanced degree(s) in Business Management or Planning.
  • AICP, PTP, or PMP certification.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft BI and SQL databases.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics platforms including R, Python.
