The Team
At-Bay’s Marketing team is helping to grow At-Bay’s business by sharing its vision and mission with the people whose lives and futures we want to help better secure through what we do. What makes At-Bay’s mission unique is that we aim to make insurance simple for our customers by bringing a lot of the complex problems that they usually are left to deal with, in-house. With more than 7+ business divisions each working toward a different business outcome, using our brand platform to anchor our people to a shared sense of community as we grow has become really important to us. You’ll be surrounded by a team that already believes strongly in the company’s mission and loves what they can contribute to it - your role will be to help nurture this passion and bring people along the business journey as we grow and things evolve.Â
Role overview
At-Bay is looking for an Employee Communications Manager to develop and execute our company’s employee communications program, including at both the corporate and executive division level.Â
In this new role, you’ll report to the Corporate Communications Practice lead (Jackie Gray) and will work very closely with our Head of People, Chief of Staff, and senior division leads, to devise a program strategy that brings our business leaders, objectives and values closer to our people to improve action and advocacy, and reinforce certain messages, across all corporate communication touchpoints.Â
You will help to organize, plan and develop processes that standardize communications across our channels and workflows in order to achieve consistency in messaging and delivery. Coming up with creative ways to improve information sharing / retention, learning, and also to celebrate each of our divisions is important too. Your role will flex between being a facilitator and creator - in addition to overseeing the development and delivery of core executive communications, you will also contribute ideas for proactive communications and help develop and prep materials to ensure maximum impact.Â
How you’ll make an impact
By 3 months:
- You’ll understand our business and have created relationships with key cross-functional partners.
- You’ll have gained a deep understanding of our people, brand voice and values and have identified ways in which different channels should be leveraged for different outcomes. Â
- You’ll have started to take over co-ordinating our All Hands meetings - sourcing ideas for the agenda, managing selection, co-ordinating on the deliverables and timeline, doing the final checks and balances before the go-live, and promoting the information after.
- You will have developed an initial strategy for the internal communications program that aligns core communications tactics with big picture goals and metrics.
By 6 months:
- You’ll fully own the planning and implementation of our internal communications plan - collaborating closely with members on the marketing, executive and people team.
- You will have started to fine tune your processes for delivering core communications to employees and be starting to optimize for program efficiencies.
- You will have mastered the brand voice and key corporate messages and started to bring your insight to help other stakeholders improve the communications they produce or deliver.Â
- You will be gathering qualitative feedback and hard metrics to evaluate your success.
- You will be starting to contribute to strategy discussions when it comes to new projects or changes in the organization - helping to offer guidance on the timing, prioritization, and direction of messaging, in addition to the cadence.
What you’ve already accomplished & the skills you possess
- 5+ years of experience in communications, with at least 2+ years specifically in organizational or executive communicationsÂ
- Experience working with a B2B technology company or an insurance company is a plus
- Demonstrated experience in writing effective communications for and across multiple mediums, formats, and for different channels and outcomes
- Experience with developing and implementing change management plans is a must  Â
- Project management and collaboration is second nature to you
- Attention to detail and delivering a high quality experience is something you care about a LOTÂ
- Ensuring that you are effective in your communication as much as you are articulate, is something that you care about a lot as well - you understand that persuasive communication requires you to have the right strategy for the communication to land
- Comfort in ambiguity, with a willingness to be scrappy in developing a solution in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong presentation, public speaking, and project management skills
