Job Description
What is the opportunity?
The Employee Relations Advisor -- EEO/AA will have dual responsibilities. This role will support compliance with federal and state Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action legal and regulatory requirements by developing and maintaining written programs, conducting numerical and statistical analyses, compiling, preparing, and submitting reports and auditing internal data and recordkeeping systems. Additionally, this role will support the effective management of workplace risk by advising managers, employees, and Human Resources, analyzing and reporting data and new legal and regulatory requirements, and implementing processes to facilitate RBC's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements affecting its US workplaces.
What will you do?
- Extract, prepare and compile employee census data for various reporting and analytical purposes; create reports and complete required analyses using appropriate software; review and interpret data and results to identify deficiencies, problems, trends, and regulatory risk
- Extract, prepare and compile employment activity and compensation data for various reporting and analytical purposes; create reports and complete statistical analyses using appropriate software: review and interpret data and results to determine goals progress and, to identify deficiencies problems, trends, and regulatory risk.
- Audit recruitment, applicant flow, hire, promotion, termination, and employee data record keeping and collection processes, procedures for appropriateness, consistency with regulatory requirements, and uniform and consistent application; identify and report on problems and deficiencies and initiate action to correct and improve processes and data quality.
- Provide advice and subject matter expertise to HR partners and people managers that ensures reputable employee relations advice is provided to businesses, functions, and HR teams. Advice should support business priorities and RBC Values while managing workplace risk.
- Support Employee Relations and policy development and implementation initiatives including developing and communicating new hire notices, required postings, policy information, forms and training tools with an emphasis on automating and simplifying work when possible.
- Track, analyze and report workplace issues to determine trends and emerging issues relevant to RBC's US workplaces.
- Develop and/or maintain tools and processes that enhance ER and HR effectiveness and encourage practices, behaviors, and processes consistent with RBC's workplace policies and RBC Values.
- Employee Relations and Human Resources work including investigating and monitoring complaints, preparing, and processing agreements, and responding to unemployment claims.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of Employee Relations and/or Human Resources work experience or degree in Human Resources or other directly related degree
- Knowledge of employment law / regulatory requirements
- Excellent and demonstrated Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) skills with in-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise in using Microsoft Excel including proficiency in creating Pivot Tables and Macros
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Critical and strategic thinking skills and ability to translate into action
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Service Now
- SAP software experience
- Employee relations experience with a multi-state employer
