About the Role

The main purpose of this role is to oversee and facilitate positive Flexer employee relations experiences by proactively partnering with key internal stakeholders, customer points of contact, and Staffmark teams to ensure employment law compliance. The Employee Relations Business Partner facilitates all Flexer HR processes, including investigations, general inquiries, and education of internal teams to mitigate legal risks to Indeed Flex while maintaining positive relations with customers and Flexers. This role is part of the overall HR team and strategy and requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Responds in a timely manner to employee inquiries with the highest levels of customer service
  • Oversees the overall employee relations investigations process, including the required reporting, guidance in investigations, and systems used to document investigations
  • Participates in vendor meetings, remaining up-to-date on current issues and possible/pending resolutions and acting as the voice of the Flexer when called upon
  • Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations
  • Documents current Employee Relations processes and procedures, identifies areas of improvement and makes recommendations for new ones
  • Acts as subject matter expert as it relates to Workers Compensation process and liaises with customers, Flexers, internal teams, Staffmark partners, and Indeed Corporate insurance to ensure processes are followed and issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Attends department and stakeholder meetings and provides updates on OKRs, weighs in on projects from an employment law and employee experience perspective, and supports and facilitates department decisions while mitigating risk
  • Acts as a point of escalation for Operations Support on matters related to Flexer experience, payroll, Flexer concerns, customer concerns about Flexers, and other matters as requested
  • Partners with Indeed Flex Payroll to investigate and resolve payroll issues; including but not limited to: missing pay, statutory payments, FLSA classifications, compensable time, pay codes, bonuses, tax deductions, wage deductions, and overpayments
  • Drafts and implements Flexer-specific policies and procedures
  • Reviews and approves customer-specific paperwork for use by Indeed Flex and partners with internal teams to implement
  • Acts as a trusted strategic resource and advisor to all levels of the organization on matters of utmost importance and, at times, confidentiality
  • Supports Indeed Flex sales through research, employment law analysis, and attendance at prospective customer meetings when called upon
  • Provides ad hoc customer success support when called upon for quarterly business reviews, providing research, insights, and analysis on employment regulations impacting our customers
  • Conducts and facilitates investigations into internal and external Flexer complaints, including fully documenting the concerns, interim actions, and final resolution
  • Remains current on employment regulations and law trends that impact the organization and Flexers. Acts as a resource, sharing knowledge with internal teams and SLT to ensure the organization is prepared to meet its obligations
  • Maintains Employee Relations resource page and associated documents and updates as needed to reflect changes in laws, policies, and procedures
  • Remains up-to-date with employment-related regulations including, but not limited to: federal regulations, state regulations, and strategic initiatives and administrative rules of various organizations impacting and defining the employment law landscape (DOL, OSHA, EEOC, NLRB, OFCCP, etc)
  • Researches employment law and collaborates with various departments on processes and product that is impacted by these laws, providing guidance on matters of importance
  • Partners closely with HR Compliance and Indeed Legal to identify risk and develop appropriate guidance and resolution as it relates to disputes, complaints, and product issues
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills which include effective listening, probing, and investigatory skills with the ability to synthesize data collected and identify root problems and causes
  • Identifies trends and challenges and proactively provides recommendations to SLT
  • Acts as secondary support to payroll, HR Compliance, and internal HR
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in an Employee Relations role
  • Able to handle conflict and manage change effectively and professionally
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate an understanding of company policies, processes, services, and technology
  • Ability and willingness to present and educate on complex topics with various-sized groups
  • Exceptional customer service abilities with a high sense of urgency
  • Strong problem-solving skills with high levels of analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written skills, to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to thoroughly document complex processes and investigations
  • Excellent experience with using case management/case tracking systems such as Salesforce to manage incoming queries and tickets
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelines
  • Strong technical acumen with an Interest in and ability to adapt to evolving and newly added technologies
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of legal terms, documentation, and multi-state regulations
  • Highly proficient with Google Workspace Software Suite with advanced knowledge of Google Sheets and Slides

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-state organization focused on growth and implementation
  • Prior experience in the staffing industry supporting contingent workers and external customers
  • Industry-specific certifications

This job operates in a professional office environment or remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment to complete daily responsibilities and duties. If working in a remote office environment, a clean, designated workspace must be kept in a safe condition, free from hazards to both the employee and the equipment. Remote office positions also require reliable, high-speed internet.
