MITRE's Employee Relations and HR Operation Excellence office is seeking an Employee Relations Business Partner to be responsible for critical employee relations activities across the organization related to employee relations, workplace investigations, and staffing functions. The position serves as a trusted business partner/consultant to Senior Management, Executive Leadership and the HR Business Partner organization on all human resource employee relations related issues and is responsible for the consistency of policies and practices. This position also helps with training as it pertains to complex Employee Relations topics. This is an excellent opportunity to work across the organization with leaders from all business areas and to work amongst a very talented human resources team.

This position will report to the Sr. HR Manager, Employee Relations & HR Operational Excellence and will be based in McLean, VA or Bedford, MA.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Consults with leadership (Department Manager, Director, Officer level) to provide information and guidance regarding personnel practices, policies, and employee relations concerns.
  • Coordinates with HR Business Partner team and with HR Centers of Excellence (Global Security Services (GSS), Legal, Health Services) to identify and leverage related activities to strengthen the impact to the customer through shared resources and reuse of existing products.
  • Engages directly with employees and managers on employee-related concerns, grievances, investigations or fact-finding interviews through conflict and dispute resolution process. Coordinates all activities with Legal, GSS and Centers of Excellence where applicable.
  • Conducts investigations for employee grievances, concerns or hotline complaints as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and Federal discrimination and employment regulations.
  • Administers grievance process execution and represents MITRE in formal grievance proceedings where applicable.
  • Partners with Employee Relations Manager to identify trends, and issues; develop and administer programs and/or training to improve employment policies or practices.
  • Under the guidance of the Employee Relations Manager, provides tracking and reporting to Talent Engagement team on trends and areas of potential concern.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the customer's mission and business strategy, their organization, their managerial capabilities, and the financial and operational environment that impacts the customer's organization and mission.
  • Engages with HRBP organization to revise and update Corrective Action Process and status tracking system as needed.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in Employee Relations function as well as compliance/regulations in HR governance role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Employee Relations experience conducting a high volume of high risk/high exposure investigations at all organizational levels.
  • This role requires a minimum active security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, PHR or SPHR certification and 8 years of experience conducting investigations in a technology or equivalent industry.
  • Experience as an HR Business Partner or Manager desired.
  • Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Additional technical skills in Workday, Tableau preferred.
