What You’ll Do:

The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for investigating and resolving employee performance issues and conflicts; and plays a key role in the design, implementation, management, and improvement of Company’s employee relations framework and deliverables which include handbooks, contracts, procedures, and policies. The Employee Relations Manager must be a self-motivated team player who has a track record of successfully designing and implementing organizational change management processes around employee relations, policy, and compliance.

  • Provide confidential guidance, advice, and counsel to employees and managers regarding a broad range of employee relations issues (e.g., performance issues, manager-employee communications, complaint resolution, engagement, attendance, etc.).
  • Interpret, explain, and apply various HR practices and programs and relevant employment and labor laws to employees and managers and develop and maintain progressive HR programs and practices.
  • Research and explain employment laws to managers and employees. Partner with inside legal counsel as needed on complex employee relations issues and coach leadership to ensure managers are proactively mitigating risk to the organization.
  • Advise, develop training materials, and deliver training to managers on best employee relations practices.
  • Partner with HR colleagues in various areas to strategize on areas related to employee relations and develop appropriate resolutions to issues which arise.
  • Assist with maintaining current employee information via HRIS to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Assist with investigations related to ethics hotline and other employee relations complaints.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field required.
  • Four years of professional human resources experience, including two years in employee relations (within cannabis is preferred) OR equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal employment and labor laws and the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws to situations.
  • Ability to remain professional, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
  • Experience working in highly confidential environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, and the ability to effectively present and train.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize a wide range of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and follow-up skills.
  • Enjoys working in a start-up, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be team-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Fluent in verbal and written Spanish, a plus.
