Job Description

As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will use your knowledge of HR and employment law, combined with business understanding, to consult about employee relations issues, execute processes, solve problems, and proactively support the business.

In this role, you will provide conflict resolution support and collaborate with multiple stakeholders at various levels. If you are solutions-oriented, customer-centric, and follow our values by embracing integrity, then this role might be for you!

Our combination of work from home and work in office puts you in the driver's seat to best navigate all that your busy life demands. To ensure you have what you need to be successful, we provide an in-person onboarding process. After that, you are all set to work remotely and in-office when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with employees, managers, executives, other internal departments, and Human Resources about complex employee issues and provide solutions. This includes policy and performance management issues that may result in coaching, discipline, terminations and/or investigations
  • Create compliant and accurate documentation
  • Proactively stay up to date on employment laws (both state and federal) and ensure C.H. Robinson's policies and processes are in alignment
  • Expertly investigate compliance issues and recommend action based on findings while keeping accurate and appropriate documentation
  • Interact with organization leaders and influence recommended outcomes
  • Respond to EEOC and various state requests for information
  • Participate on project teams in support of business and Human Resources initiatives; manage small to medium-scope projects
  • Use functional expertise to develop proactive strategies to enhance C.H. Robinson's work environment
  • Consult about government reporting processes on behalf of the organization, such as Affirmative Action, Workers Compensation, EEO-1, OSHA, and Health & Safety
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous Employee Relations experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (domestically)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Global employee relations experience
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and confidence with managers, executives, and other Human Resources departments
  • Interest in developing or expanding knowledge and use of employment law
  • High degree of confidentiality
  • Proven conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to create new or review and update existing processes
  • Basic understanding of employment law and how to apply law to company policy
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation/communication proficiency
  • Strong problem solving/critical thinking skills
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Ability to motivate and encourage change, able to get positive results in a very large, dispersed organization
