Job Description

Under the direction of the Employee Relations Director, the Employee Relations Specialist (or Employee Relations Senior Specialist) is responsible for the development and administration of select Employee Relations Initiatives. This position interfaces with the entire North America based employee population of approximately 3100 employees.

Principal accountabilities include:

  • Provides consultation and support to the human resources function on human resources and employee relations topics including performance management, progressive discipline, and policy interpretation.
  • Supports the ER Director in conducting workplace investigations and the resolution of complaints, ensuring investigations are conducted and written recommendations/findings are developed in an objective and thorough manner.
  • Supports the ER Director in the development of training modules and materials specific to investigation and other employment matters.
  • Manages data collection and communication process with vendor for AAP/EEO-1 Program Compliance
  • Creates forms for performance management, performance improvement, and other employee communication templates.
  • Supports managers in developing appropriate documentation to support the performance management process
  • Supports communication and change efforts with HR, Legal, Business Leaders, Managers, and Employees that support the vision and value of the Employee Relations COE.
  • Assists with coordination of skill building training for managers.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of HR experience with a focus on employee relations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field strongly preferred
  • Master's degree in Human Resources or related field a plus
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as HRIS systems, preferably Workday.

  • Proven ability to make sound decisions with limited data or in uncertain circumstances
  • Experience managing highly confidential information and complex situations with discretion and sensitivity is required
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of company guidelines and relevant legislation to ensure a compliant working environment
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and trends
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a history of resolving confidential and sensitive situations and issues of a complex nature while providing flexible solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills required
  • Excellent project management, organizing, and planning skills required
  • Ability to partner effectively with individuals and groups of management and teammates to incorporate their ideas, adapt to their needs, and to encourage them to accept actions and decisions to implement Covetrus' best practices
  • Skill in facilitating conflict resolution by negotiating and resolving disputes including effective techniques to persuade and influence others

Normal office environment with extensive computer use. Some travel required and primarily to other site locations (up to 10%).
