SUMMARY:

Provide professional quality Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advice & execution on Employee Relations (ER) matters in North America, managing multiple ER cases from initiation to resolution, assisting employees at all levels in the organization, providing guidance to leaders, and driving consistency in application of policy and procedure. This is a remote, "work from home" opportunity and we are seeking a candidate that is bilingual in English/Spanish .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle escalated queries from Tier 1 and 2 Human Resources (HR).
  • Tier 3 ER case management & documentation, managing cases by utilizing a Case Management tool through to resolution with the help of internal Legal function and/or external legal providers as necessary.
  • Respond to ER inquiries which may include, but are not limited to: Disciplinary action, progressive performance management, policy breach, investigations, employee standards of conduct, EEOC claims, unemployment claims, and terminations. Understands/assesses risk and seeks assistance and/or escalates as necessary.
  • Ongoing monitoring of the workplace environment to proactively identify trends and the identification of potential concerns or issues.
  • If case resolutions warrants it, provide a feedback loop for leaders and/or employees.
  • Respond to and investigate Ethics Line reports.
  • Liaison with internal legal or external legal advisors on ER issues.
  • Participate in ER reporting, analysis and insight.
  • Execution of and/or participation in diversity and inclusion activities.
  • Provide advice & support from an ER perspective to organizational change programs.
  • In conjunction with our third party provider, respond to unemployment claim inquiries.
  • Ongoing support and consultation with people managers on day to day employee issues (e.g. disciplinary advice).
  • Provide support for the Company roundtable process.
  • Write/edit corrective counseling documents.
  • Support and track workplace accommodation requests.
  • Provide high touch support for escalated situations.
  • Utilize and record work performed in Company provided case management system(s).
  • Continual review of documented processes to ensure consistency across the ER function. Work jointly with key partners to create or modify documented processes as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years progressive experience in HR required with demonstrated required functional knowledge & expertise
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Licenses & Certifications: PHR/SPHR/CHRP or other related HR professional certification preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish and/or French)
  • Experience supporting leaders and employees in Union environment a plus
  • 2+ years working in a regional shared services organization a plus
  • Demonstrated experience of, and focus on, proactively managing customer relationships
  • Must possess demonstrated understanding of continuous performance measurement
  • A track record of identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement - keeping it simple
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders in a complex, multi-supplier and matrixed environment
  • Curious; proactively ask questions about wider context in order to understand where to provide most business value; taking our customers to where they ought to be, not where they want to be
  • Being courageous when we need to push back and say no, or pull them to lead them to a different place
  • Exceptional conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced situations that require sound decision making
  • High degree of comfort with change, with the skill to easily shift priorities to meet business needs
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills, able to carry out root cause analysis
