Job Description:

Job Summary: The EMR Technical Team Lead assists in managing and leading an EMR Technical team. Communicates company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. Motivates team members and assesses performance of EMR systems. Provides help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance. Communicates concerns and policies among management and team members.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Development and/or review of EMR architectural security designs to ensure compliance to standards and processes.
  2. Oversees the organization's EMR systems environment, ensuring resources are used in accordance with application demands, availability, security, and minimum necessary cost.
  3. Develops long-term architectural direction for the District's EMR systems.
  4. Assists with developing work objectives, designating project assignments, and advises junior staff on critical issues related to EMR system problems or client relationships.
  5. Participates in routine and unplanned maintenance, as well as 24x7 support to the team as needed. On-call rotation to be expected. Serves as an effective escalation point for the EMR Technical Support team.
  6. Provides solutions for complex issues to meet business requirements or enhance performance.
  7. Reviews EMR vendor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness and makes recommendations to management for consideration.
  8. Reviews completion and implementation of EMR system additions and/or enhancements and provides management overview. Ensures proper documentation and configuration information is maintained. Ensures security standards are implemented on all new EMR projects.
  9. Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations. Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, mission-related objectives, and deadlines.
  10. Keeps up with trends in the constantly evolving information technology industry and makes recommendations regarding new technology.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 7 or more years of experience in the IT industry.
  • 4 or more years with Epic EMR systems.
  • 3 or more years of experience with virtualization technologies.
  • 2 or more years of experience with project management tools.
  • 1 or more years of experience leading or mentoring a technical team.
  • ECSA Client Systems Certification.
  • ESXi Virtualization training.
  • Microsoft Server administration training.
  • Scripting Languages.
  • Automation and Orchestration tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience leading a technical team.
  • Experience with data communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP).
  • Experience with troubleshooting unusual system behavior.
  • Experience translating and documenting complex clinical and business workflows.
  • Epic ECSA Certification Program.
  • Epic OCBA Certification Program.
