Summary:

As the Engine Systems Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for the procurement and integration of numerous powertrain test systems, fuel management, and working closely with our valued internal/external business partners. Candidate is also responsible for assessing and ensuring engine and support systems regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will be a valuable part of the team by:

  • Engine obtainment including identification, procurement, logistics, support systems, and fuels within the Commercial and Defense organizations
  • Assess and ensure Regulatory Compliance with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) as well as identifying impacts to Allison Transmission and our valued customers
  • Utilization of a systems engineering approach to develop, integrate, and execute reliable powertrain test systems in support of business needs and timing
  • Oversight of instrumentation and auxiliary support equipment directly related to subject matter
  • Plans, manages, and oversees the execution of engine systems integration and fuel management
  • Establish and generate standard operating and integration procedures
  • Communicate technical data to internal and external engineering organizations as well as regulatory/certification agencies
  • Develops applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures
  • Asset disposition control
  • Working with a high level of independent judgment and decision making
  • Continuous improvement to documentation
  • Other duties as assigned


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree/experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in engine systems integration
  • Mechanical/Automotive Systems Engineering experience with a focus in integration
  • Technical expertise of engine systems (multi-fuel applications) and after-treatment applications
  • High level of technical experience with SAE standards and applications
  • Proficient troubleshooting knowledge and methods for various engine systems
  • Proficient with International Organization Standards (ISO)
  • Experience in laboratory test environment
  • High level of technology experience with CAN communications as well as data control/acquisition equipment systems
  • Ability to generate clear and concise formal presentations and proposals
  • Ability to set and meet goals for all deliverables
  • Demonstrated technical ability
  • Proficient with computer operations, including Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to travel as needed


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of Green House Gas Regulations
  • Basic knowledge of medium-to-heavy duty powertrain test equipment
  • Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (both hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, gears, electric machines, and hybrid and electrified propulsion systems desired but not required
