Job Summary
Reporting into the Senior Manager of DMR DevOps, this role will be responsible for executing data integration and consolidation projects (truly engineering/delivering on architecture requirements) to cater to the reporting and analytical needs of the various business units in the enterprise.
Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in project handover from architect and stewardship teams to ensure full understanding of the initiative - goals, data models, transformation logic, technologies and platforms involved
- Contribute in low level design and test planning
- Independently work on the development and unit testing of the integration modules across the different technologies ensuring adherence to the quality and delivery commitments
- Develop large scalable and repeatable ETL Pipelines to ingest data form various source systems including RDBMs (Oracle/SQL), Cloud Solutions (S3), Flat Files (TXT, CSV), and APIs using standard framworks
- Analyze, profile and understand the source data and proactively come up with suggestions to improve the design or handle data and technical challenges during project execution
- Contribute to elimination of technical debts and improving operational efficiency
- Ensure high quality deliverables aligning to the development and data standards and best practices while constantly raising the bar
- Identify and recommend framework changes to increase performance and scalability

Foundational/Technical Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related discipline is required
- At least 2 years of large data warehouse development is essential
- Hands on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools like Spark (PySpark), YARN, HDFS, Hive, Sqoop, understanding of systems performance data (collection, monitoring, analysis)
- Hands on experience with AWS S3, Python, and Shell Scripting
- Strong experience in Teradata application development with knowledge on utilities like TPT, FASTLOAD etc. in large Data Warehouse environments
- Knowledge in Docker and Kubernetes is required
- Knowledge in Airflow, UC4, or other scheduling tools would be helpful
Business Skills:
- Problem-solving skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively learn new business tools and processes
- Self-motived and works at a high-level independently, even with limited or ambiguous requirements/direction
- Experience working in agile development methodology with good knowledge on backlog grooming, sprint planning, conducting and participating in agile ceremonies, scrum meetings, and retrospectives.
- Motivated to learn new skills, keep self updated on the latest technology developments and apply them in Comcast
Sample/Targeted Projects:
- Receive direction and requirements from architecture leads and built out the associated data elements (tables, views) and their associated load processes in either our big data platform (Hadoop) and/or our national data warehouse (Teradata): developing curated semantic views (transforming raw transactional data into normalized business solutions) related to our retail sales environment (inventory, workforce management optimization), call center (voice analytics, intelligent call routing), and field sales organization (aligning customer-level data and account transactions to associated, parent multi dwelling units)
- Influencing and shaping how to build the most scalable, subject matter-oriented data mart for each line of business: partnering and challenging peer group and business stakeholders on how to best structure and organize sales performance, sales operations/activities, and customer-level data
- Various broad-scale data architecture projects require daily journaling of slowly-changing dimensions across numerous source systems and business use cases. This candidate will have to lead and facilitate how to effectively journal data to have historical deltas reflected in downstream data architecture, so that "point in time" reporting capabilities can be fully automated where applicable (use cases span tracking employee hierarchy relationship changes, sales funnel history, and frontline personnel changes, product changes, customer changes)
