Engineers that join our team will be part of a fast paced, entrepreneurial team responsible for delivering world class internally developed and vendor-based solutions. You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concept to deliver against the existing and future needs of our business partners. The role requires expertise in working with a team of talented engineers, architects, and third-party vendors to deliver world class capabilities for American Express.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Owns all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications.
  • Performs hands-on architecture, design, and development of systems
  • Collaborates with other engineers, senior engineers, architects, and others through ongoing sprints
  • Functions as an active member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices - tools and common components
  • Develops deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains
  • Drive consistent development practices - tools and common components
  • Typically spends 60-70% of time on requirement analysis, writing code and testing, working with stakeholders through ongoing product/platform release sprints
  • Identifies opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
  • This "rebel with a cause" looks beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in computer science, or equivalent 3-4 years of work experience
  • 2-3 years' experience working in JavaScript and able to demonstrate good JavaScript knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate good web fundamentals & knowledge of DOM
  • Experience writing adaptive and responsive UI applications
  • Knowledge of HTML5, React, Redux, Express, Middleware with recent experience in ES6
  • 2-3 years experience in writing JavaScript applications in Node.js
  • Experience with REST based interfaces.
  • 1-2 years experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) / Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, unit testing, functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, GUI testing, web service testing, and browser compatibility testing, including frameworks such as, WebDriverIO, Cucumber.JS
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery(CI/CD)
  • 2-3 yrs working experience in an Agile or SAFe development environment
  • Experience in a11y and I18N is a plus
  • GraphQL knowledge and experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods.
  • Experience with design and coding with React technologies
  • Prior experience with design and coding with JAVA J2EE technologies is a plus
  • Good understanding of CI/CD processes leveraging Jenkins, XLR and Maven.
  • Knowledge of APM tools, like ELK stack, Splunk as well as application monitoring tools like Prometheus and dashboarding with Grafana is a plus.
  • Ability to proactively support colleagues and collaborates with them to help achieve targets.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
