The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions, from specialized antennas to electro-optical technologies, to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various military platforms, from aircraft and land vehicles to ships and satellites, and give warfighters the advantage they need to take action, identify targets and defend against evolving threats.
Engineer Associate - RF/Microwave Design
This position will have antenna and RF design engineering as its area of specialization.
What You'll Do:
  • Antenna and antenna-related RF component design and development along with some new business support under supervision of more senior engineers.
  • Learn, develop, and apply technical knowledge of RF engineering to antennas and RF component design.
  • Participate in the hands-on design and realization of state-of-the-art antennas and RF components.
  • Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Contribute to the completion of routine technical tasks.
  • Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
  • Relate well with other people and serve well as a team member.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Basic competency in core RF engineering and antenna theory.
  • Solid communication skills. May assist with the preparation and delivery of presentations.
  • Some experience with design of antennas and RF components (frequency-selective surfaces (FSS), radomes, power dividers, couplers, transitions, etc.) is preferred.
  • Exposure to and use of software and simulation tools such as AWR Microwave Office/Agilent ADS, CST, FEKO, HFSS, and SENTRI is preferred.
  • Some experience in programming, data manipulation, and data visualization in MATLAB or other programming language is preferred.
  • Some exposure to RCS design, prediction, and measurement is preferred.
  • A current, active security clearance is preferred.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel aโ€‹nd local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,500 - $96,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
