Hydro Engineer

The successful candidate will serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team in Southern Company Hydro organization supporting Georgia Power Company's hydroelectric plants and lakes.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of: water resource management; hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; watershed modeling; fluid mechanics. Familiarity with USGS gaging systems and data collection/dissemination is a plus.

- Assisting in hydraulic and/or hydroelectric plant operational modelling for systems of impoundments.
- Estimating inflows into reservoirs incorporating USGS measurements, and hydrologic data.
- Calculate discharges through water control structures.
- Provide engineering and procedural support for the hydroelectric Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licenses including relicensing, license amendments and operational compliance.
Education : BS in Civil Engineering or Hydrology/Water Resources or related engineering related discipline required
Experience: Prefer 2-3 years working on water resource projects or civil projects which include hydraulic structures. Experience interfacing with regulators and the public is an asset. Experience with water modelling and/or Excel spreadsheet models a plus.
License and Certification: Preferred EIT or PE in the state of Georgia
