Engineer I-Design/Product

We are looking for a colleague to join our Mechanical Design team at our location in Lafayette, Indiana. The Mechanical Design Engineeras a member of the Product Engineering Team andis responsible for the design and development of Commercial Vehicle Steering components and assemblies .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create mechanical solutions for customer applications, new steering system requirements, and sub system functions.
• Manage the creation and collaboration of 3D CAD models and engineering drawings to describe the product to manufacturing, quality, and purchasing.
• Perform Engineering calculations as required to ensure a robust product design.
• Develop, revise, and maintain Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) including the selection of Classification of Characteristics.
• Develop test specifications, product validation plans, enter test requests, coordinate completion of testing, write engineering reports and communicate results to the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Experience working in an Engineering setting (will consider co-op/internship experience)
• Familiarity with DFMEA as well as GD&T
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD), PTC CREO, NX11 preferred
• Manufacturing Process Knowledge is preferred
• Experience with Matlab and Minitab preferred
• Root Cause Analysis experience preferred
