Engineer I, R&D Product Development

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer for an exciting opportunity to join BD's global R&D team responsible for commercializing Infusion Preparation and Delivery solutions. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with strong engineering fundamentals and excellent interpersonal skills. The individual will lead/support a wide range of cross-functional activities such as understanding end-user needs, translating those into system requirements, supporting development of robust design solutions and their transfer to manufacturing and operations. The individual is expected to proactively participate in managing technical risks, driving feasibility testing, robustness testing, managing error budgets, cost models, and driving timely completion of projects.

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

  • BS - Science/Engineering/Technology
  • Excellent knowledge of fundamental Mechanical Engineering principles and strong experience in their application to solving manufacturing and engineering problems.
  • Prior experience of working as part of a cross-disciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying scopes at once.

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of injection molding, and plastic extrusion.
  • SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tool.
  • Background and experience in Design of Experiments and statistical methods of analysis.
