Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, 32-bit microprocessors, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed-signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). We also license Flash-IP solutions that are incorporated in a broad range of products.
Microchip is searching for an Engineer II - Design to be part of the USB and Networking Business Unit located in Hauppauge, NY. A candidate placed in this position will be a contributor in the USB and Networking FPGA Emulation Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market, including Ethernet switches & bridges, USB hubs & power delivery, PCIe bridges, serial interfaces (SerDes) and other connectivity interfaces.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Help define and develop high-level validation infrastructure for FPGA-based pre-silicon emulation of ASIC devices for USB and Networking projects.
- Specify and design test environments including:
- Software requirements
- Lab Equipment requirements
- Test board designs
- Develop pre-silicon validation test plans
- Perform lab-based pre-silicon validation data collection and document results.
- Work with Validation Engineering, Product Engineering, and Applications Engineering to validate new silicon products using FPGAs
- Perform various industry compliance tests using FPGA emulation platforms
- Work in the lab to replicate, debug and determine root cause of any anomalies
Requirements/Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 4+ years of relevant industry experience
- Able to develop test cases and usage models that may violate the assumptions of designers and architects.
- Working knowledge of Electronics Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)
- Proficient in Verilog/System Verilog
- Experience with the ASIC design and/or verification flow
- Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal), and documentation skills
- Excellent problem solving, debugging and organization skills.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work in a collaborative group environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of following protocols: USB (USB3.0, USB2.0), USB Power Delivery, PCIe, Ethernet (10/100/1G BASE-T and 1G-25G SerDes)
- Peripherals Interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART etc.
- Experience with simulation and simulation tools
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA emulation and debug
