Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.

Job Summary
The Engineer II/III position is an intermediate to advanced intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II/III position begin to solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II/III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. This position will report to the Coal Combustion Products (CCP) Carolinas East Engineering Manager, with their daily activities overseen and mentored by a CCP Lead Engineer. The Engineer II/III will support Cape Fear (Moncure), HF Lee (Goldsboro) and Robinson (Hartsville, SC) sites. The position will be based out of either of these locations, determined at the time of candidate offering.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to• Conducts inspections of CCP assets including, but not limited to, dams, landfills, cooling ponds,• Provides general oversight of maintenance activities for these assets under guidance and communication with CCP Lead Engineer,• Prepares thorough and accurate inspection reports, correspondences, documentation, work orders and purchase orders related to well-defined problems of increasing scope and complexity,• Responds to alarming conditions on equipment and performs minor troubleshooting,• Performs episodic inspections of CCP assets initiated by seismic activity or heavy rainfall,• Supports Emergency Action Plan engineering resources inspection and observation roles under the direction of CCP Lead Engineer and Engineering Manager,• Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities,• Manages changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team,• Completes routine activities with nominal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage work and interfaces; increasingly competent to operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems,• Possesses and applies engineering fundamentals, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies,• Develops positive working relationships with RRE and EHS personnel to effectively coordinate work activities,• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,• Maintains accurate records and files, and• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally. Candidate must possess a valid driver license issued by the State of residence declared under application and have maintained a safe driving history.
Required Qualifications
Engineer II
• Bachelors degree in Engineering• In addition to required degree, 2 years related work experience
Engineer III
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or other related field of study
- Six (4) or more years of experience
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering• In addition to desired degree, 2 years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure by past work with construction and design of impoundment dams, cooling ponds, landfills and water pumping operations.
- Basic awareness of environmental and regulatory requirements related to coal combustion products, dams, landfills, and effluent permits.
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Understanding the basic principles of project management.
Working Conditions
- Considerable time spent in the field, sometimes during adverse weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to safely walk on uneven or sloped surfaces, for extended periods of time.
- May require response during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Specific Requirements
- Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
