Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. has an opening for an Engineer II-Software Development position in Houston, Texas. In this role, the candidate will work as a full stack developer to enhance and maintain a custom, in-house test automation framework used by internal teams for validating Microchip storage products in a fast paced, non-stop, automated test environment. The candidate will also assist in maintaining existing infrastructure servers and network hardware components to support the internal QA test teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop frameworks and tools using PHP, JAVA, Python and bash/shell scripting
• Design, develop and maintain MySQL databases to enhance the capabilities of automated testing teams
• Work as part of a team to develop, execute, maintain, and document the test infrastructure solutions and processes
• Work with multiple internal QA test teams to support and provide continuous improvement of the automated test environment
• Maintain servers and other hardware and software components that provide the infrastructure used by the automated QA test environment
• Work within a team to track and provide estimates for tasks by utilizing and following the Agile development methodology
• Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities for Microchip's quality assurance organization

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Minimum of 2+ years of post-graduate industry related experience
• US Citizenship/Permanent US Residency Required
• Minimum of 3+ years of proven software development and programming experience in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JSON, JQUERY, SQL, PHP, JAVA and Python)
• Good understanding of object-oriented design and programming best practices
• Experience installing and maintaining Linux operating systems
• Strong design, analysis, and debug skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiar with NFS and SVN configuration and administration
• Experience with machine learning concepts and implementation
• Experience with integrating web-based cloud data and storage solutions
