Engineer II, System Structure Design

Position Summary

Perform complex electronic system verification and customer support of Samsung 5G Radio Access Network ("RAN") equipment including virtual Electronics Manufacturing Service ("EMS") and vRAN.

Role and Responsibilities

Perform complex electronic system verification and customer support of Samsung 5G Radio Access Network ("RAN") equipment including virtual Electronics Manufacturing Service ("EMS") and vRAN. Represent Samsung when leading network outages in a multi-vendor environment. Perform feature validation, interoperability testing, and field evaluation to obtain electronics product acceptance from customer. Aid in product and wireless network feature performance analysis and evaluation of new electronics products and software releases. Analyze customer requirements, develop test strategy for features and functionalities, convert customer requirements into test plans, and detail test procedures of wireless network systems. Act as a key contributor for the 3GPP LTE and 5G Network Management product. Analyze customer requirements, develop test strategy for features and functionalities, convert customer requirements into test plans, and detail test procedures of wireless network systems. Apply engineering expertise towards OAMP/FCAPS subsystem integration and troubleshooting in wireless networks. Work to drive engineering support teams to troubleshoot commercial NMS/EMS application issues, propose workarounds, and work with R&D to provide the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to the customer. Assist with development of engineering product requirements, feature requirements, systems and performance analysis, Work with the team to conduct deep-dive customer sessions, new technology introduction of 4G/5G RAN Network Management features and introduction of virtualized networks. Assist with engineering analysis of the customer requirements, converting them into system requirements and capturing of detail design for the development team. Support EMS and NE software/firmware upgrade rollouts.

Skills and Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, a related field, or a foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related. In lieu of the Master's degree plus at least 2 years of experience, Employer is willing to accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, a related field, or a foreign equivalent, plus 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related role. Applicants must have 2 years of experience (5 years of experience in possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree) in the following: (1) OAMP/FCAPS/OSS knowledge/experience for EMS/NMS or RAN network elements; (2) vCU instantiation; (3) Restful APIs; (4) Unix/Linux, scripting tools including PERL, TCL, or Shell; (5) Troubleshooting experience using command-line tools and scripts; (6) SNMP protocols and NMS/OSS interfaces; and (7) High Availability and redundancy systems. Up to 20% domestic travel required.
