Engineer II/Engineer Senior - Mission Operations
This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of Ball Aerospace's satellite ground systems development and gain exposure to innovative new pursuits and technology areas while providing a direct pathway to future leadership opportunities. This technical position is for a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable handling many diverse and sometimes open-ended assignments.
What You'll Do:

• Work under an Operations Lead in space mission operations and engineering.
• Provide space operations and systems engineering support of technical teams to help define architectures for complex systems including satellite ground systems and advanced space missions.
• Objectively define, execute, and report on trade studies that provide data for decision making to our customers.
• Leverage Model Based Systems Engineering.
• Support site integration for satellite ground system operators.
• Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
• Support technical proposal development.
• Employ proactive risk and opportunity management processes and practices to mitigate or capture potential program issues and improvements.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:

• Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field plus 5 or more years related experience is required.
• Engineer Senior - BS degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field plus 8 or more years related experience is required.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• MS or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field preferred.
• Background in space operations, math, science, and technical applications preferred.
• A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• Demonstrated ability to be wholly at ease and comfortable interfacing with government customers, co-workers, and teammates within industry and the government at all levels.
• Willingness to work with multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
• Ability to develop and analyze mission concepts, including space vehicles, payloads, launch, and ground components.
• Ability to work with various space operations organizations.
• Willingness to work in all phases of program execution, including early planning, design reviews, software development, integration, test, sell-off, and on-orbit mission operation.
• Experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
• Presentation skills with willingness to present to senior decision making and technical audiences.
• Ability to develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity, creativity, thorough research, and experience in the Space Operations Community.
• Ability to understand and apply knowledge, experience, and skills to the toughest tasks and problems without supervision.

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

• HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER II: $108,000 - $133,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
• HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER SENIOR: $133,500 - $168,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
