AES Clean Energy is seeking a Product Solutions Engineer to support mechanical, electrical, and thermal design and integration of clean energy technologies into repeatable, deployable, durable system architectures. This will involve specification, review, conceptual design, modeling, prototyping, test, and validation of enclosures, assemblies, and installations. The engineer will coordinate and partner with product vendors and manufacturers to develop cost-effective systems that transport, support, interconnect, and protect vital clean energy power generation systems via requirements-based design-build programs. This work will directly support efficient and effective deployment of new clean energy technologies that could be used in AES's projects.

The successful candidate will be experienced with mechanical and/or electrical engineering, and industrial product design. They will be able to shepherd products from concept, to drawing, through quote, manufacture, and factory acceptance testing. They will enjoy creative, collaborative development among internal and external partners and demonstrate strong communication and organized documentation skills.

The position is located in Louisville, CO.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position will be to:

• Distill high-level stakeholder requirements and collaborative vendor discussions into detailed engineering specifications

• Design conceptual physical layouts of hardware for utility scale solar and storage technologies

• Perform design reviews and develop tools to assess performance of integrated plant-level technology applications in grid-tied and microgrid configurations

• Identify cost-saving and performance-enhancing design improvements

• Develop 3D and 2D models and engineering drawings of hardware

• Coordinate with equipment subject matter experts to define and optimize system interfaces

• Solicit, administer, review, and interpret third-party engineering evaluations for performance, safety, and standard/code compliance of product hardware and software

• Ensure product compliance with codes, standards, and leading practices

• Oversee factory acceptance testing and quality control of custom hardware design

Skills and Qualifications

• Candidate must have an BS or MS in mechanical or industrial engineering (or related field).

• 3+ years experience required. Experience in industrial sectors or energy strongly preferred.

• Prior experience designing and manufacturing electrical equipment racking and enclosures

• Strong documentation and communication experience

• Travel expected 10-25% for vendor engagement, manufacturing oversight, and product validation

• Experience in power plant design, operations, or commissioning is a plus.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $75.000 and $106.250/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
