Job Description
Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for leading the low voltage battery application engineering activities in the US as part of a global team to support future growth of Clarios, including the support to define the future product roadmap & future product portfolio of Clarios for OE and IAM customers.
Key element is to understand how the battery is used in a vehicle today and how it will be used in the future for different applications, in different vehicles with different power trains & different power nets. This position is interacting with internal customers and external customers as well as internal stakeholders from different departments and external partners.

Primary Duties:
- Leading a team with direct reports up to 5
- Project management for all US related activities of battery application and battery diagnostic
- leading vehicle power net testing activities in US incl. real road testing, field fleet testing. roller dyno testing & laboratory testing
- Propose, plan & execute battery application activities in cooperation with internal and external customers with support of the local team, the global team & external partners if required.
- Preparation and presentation of activity proposals
- Definition of work packages & test plan
- Vehicle / power net testing in the vehicle laboratory
- Battery testing for vehicles in the field with customers and for Clarios internal stakeholders.
- Analysis of test data & documentation of test results
- Regularly report out on activity status, findings, next steps to stakeholders
- Presentation to internal stakeholders and external customers globally.
- Provide support to key customer technical meetings. Support Technical Account Management and commercial groups with technical presentations.
- Market analysis on future power net trends with regular reporting
- Development of knowledgebase about new and future vehicle electrical architectures
- Development of new testing capabilities incl. specifications for new equipment
- Continues improvement for used processes
- Set up of new cooperation with external partners to increase capabilities
- Coaching and training of employees about vehicle power train, power net, battery interaction with the vehicle based on use cases.
- Provide technical support on battery diagnostics for the organization (marketing, quality, sales)
- Support to develop battery state of charge, state of health, state of function algorithms and battery charge strategies
- Contribute to customer requirements clarification, support IAM, OEM engineering teams in customer discussions / meetings
- Support to define battery exchange requirements in vehicle
- Analyze indicators for needed battery exchange
- Analyze diagnostics and monitoring technologies and trends in regards of impact on business
- Industry Monitoring via internet research

Job Requirements:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Automotive engineering or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 3 years of related engineering experience in Automotive, Systems, Battery industry
- Manage engineering resources with & without direct authority and partner with engineering leadership
- Project management skills and experience
- Knowledge of: Vehicle communication protocols LIN & CAN and vehicle data analytics
- Knowledge of: battery applications & vehicle testing
- Ability to work with business owners external to Clarios (test labs, and fleet owners/operators)
- Ability to collaborate and communicate openly to Clarios team-based, matrix environment
- Ability to interpret, test specification, and technical documents
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and self-identify needs to address
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization and to outside suppliers & customers
- Ability to work closely with senior executives in a cross functional team and across cross functional boundaries
- Very good Software knowledge (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Engineering SW like MATLAB, Vector, IMC famos, etc.) Software programming background (not a specialist)
- Experience in Electronics (basics not specialist) Capable to analyze, summarize and report test data to external customers Travel expectation is up to 30%
