JOB DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Documentation Specialist's main objective is to document complex data migration information (data schemas, data value mapping, transform business logic) into developer-focused documentation to drive clarity on Tool function and design. An Engineering Documentation Specialist at Vertafore is a member of an energetic agile team of Developers, QA, and Product Management professionals, and is responsible for delivering content that fully documents the logic behind our portfolio of Conversion Tools.
You will collaborate closely with internal Subject Matter Experts and reverse-engineer from code to understand the data that is/is not converted, the manner in which that data is mapped between systems, and the business logic that underlies all data transforms. You'll work closely with Sr. Product Owners and / or Product Managers to understand roadmap goals/strategy and prioritize work that ranges from documenting newly developed tools, to reverse-engineering documentation for existing tools. As an Engineering Documentation Specialist, you will also work closely with our Documentation Specialist (working on user-facing documentation) to provide information that they will translate into documentation consumable by customers and Professional Services analysts.

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:• Translate information from developer interviews, software specs/requirements, and source-code reverse-engineering into developer-level documentation for reference and training purposes• Develop and maintain a prioritized backlog of documentation to create and update• Craft effective delivery templates for communicating this highly technical information
Qualifications:• 5-7 years' experience in technical writing, with a focus on highly technical documentation• Software Engineering background, preferably working with data migrations or ETLs• Ability to reverse-engineer data and business logic specifics from source code (SQL and/or SSIS packages)• Prior experience ideating new approaches to documentation formats, or exposure to a wide variety of documentation outputs (Help, Getting Started Guides, User Manuals, etc.)• Experience working with B2B SaaS software in any capacity is a plus

• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

The Professional Services (PS) and Customer Success (CX) bonus plans are a quarterly monetary bonus plan based upon individual and practice performance against specific business metrics. Eligibility is determined by several factors including: start date, good standing in the company, and actives status at time of payout.
