Job Description

Eaton's Power Systems Division is looking for two Summer (May-August) 2023 Engineering interns to be based at our Waukesha, WI Badger Drive facility.

The New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Intern is an integral part of the LIPE Innovation team which is responsible for the development of medium voltage switches, fuses, and power connection components for overhead and underground power distribution equipment and systems.

An intern works alongside experienced engineers to deliver, product designs, test results, and the estimated financial benefits for a project, on schedule and within budget.

Essential Functions
  • Learn and employ design tools and processes to create or revise product design and product definition data (3D models, drawings, bills of materials, product & material specifications).
  • Learn and perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging CAE tools.
  • Support the manufacture and production of prototype and pilot builds.
  • Develop verification tests which include defining mechanical, electrical, and environmental test methods and procedures. Design custom test fixtures.
  • Perform testing. Coordinate the performing of tests by internal and external labs. Provide timely, accurate, and pertinent information and reports.
  • Effectively deliver results that meet schedule and quality targets.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with a major in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Completed sophomore year or higher coursework.
  • Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation is provided for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Waukesha, WI facility.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering candidates - concentration in Electric Power.
  • Mechanical Engineering candidates - completed coarse work in CAD 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Developing skills in Engineering analysis and CAE tools (3D simulation, FEA, MatLab, Minitab, etc.).
  • Previous experience working in an engineering or manufacturing setting.
