Job Description

Key Tasks

  • Lead engineering and procurement of BWE oversight of engineering and procurement contractor for modifications on all Gabon facilities.
  • Ensure quality of engineering products and vendor equipment is 'fit-for-purpose' which requires an assessment of design life/cost to repair on station, the cost to replace//refurbish, sparing, etc. Ensure Contractor complies with Class, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Provide core competency/expert consultation and support for engineering activities.
  • Select & monitor engineering and procurement contractor(s) - review of staffing, timesheets, productivity, etc to protect BWE interests. Monitor contractor(s) efficiency in managing engineering and procurement activities.
  • Work with planning team to ensure engineering is delivered, installed, and commissioned in accordance with the project schedule and in accordance with the project budget.
  • Provide engineering support to the construction team.
  • Work with BWE Operations and other internal engineering teams to ensure operability is incorporated into the design and to ensure safe operations can be achieved.
  • Lead the BWE oversight of and participate in the systems and facilities commissioning.
  • Ensure safety is incorporated into design, follow up on all risk assessments/HAZIDs/HAZOP, and ensure close-out of items (including closeout documentation e.g., as-build).
  • Follow up and expedite key actions from vendor meetings.
  • Work closely with regulatory engineers, regulators, and Class to ensure all requirements are addressed and there are no concerns regarding import and operation of the FPSO into Brazil.
  • Work closely with Vendors and Suppliers.

Personal Accountability

  • Act as or provide engineering support to the Delivery Manager.
  • Work with Contractor to troubleshoot and resolve any system or facility design problems.
  • Interface with construction and operations teams and provide engineering support during system or facility modifications.
  • Provide input in the development of Operational Performance Standards for Field Operations.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering required.
  • Both FPSO Topsides and Marine engineering background is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 20+ years in the oil and gas industry, including 10+ years FPSO experience, specifically related to Engineering, Project, and Field Operations support.
  • Experience with Brazilian regulations a plus.
  • Experience in liaising with regulatory bodies.

  • Strong communication skills: able to ask relevant questions and provide thorough explanations.
  • Able to deliver quality work on time.
  • Able to deliver practical solutions especially as pertains to redeployment of an existing FPSO - ability to assess the balance of replacement cost now vs later, the value of sparing, refurbishment vs replacement.
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary, multinational environment - results oriented.
  • Fluent in the English language (oral and written).

Knowledge

  • Engineering System processes.
  • Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality aspects in an operational environment.
  • Classification Society and Flag State rules and regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc.
