Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages engineering projects, department workload, and schedules as needed to ensure projects meet customer specifications and are completed on time and within budget.
- Drives design standardization, cost effectiveness, improved performance, and manufacturing improvements across all product lines.
- Provides technical support for sales, marketing, manufacturing and field support personnel.
- Works closely with Quality to troubleshoot quality issues and develop corrective actions as needed.
- Hires, trains, mentors, and manages the performance of the engineering team.
- Ensures design documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Performs diverse engineering activities involving design and/or redesign of company products.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies, standards, and objectives; establishes and/or updates engineering standards and specifications as needed.
- Supports aftermarket product modification and upgrade programs through quick and accurate engineering analyses.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Minimum of 7 years' design experience, including experience designing heavy industrial equipment;
- At least 2 years' experience directly managing engineering and/or technical support personnel.
BEHAVIORIAL & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES ( Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design techniques, and procedures.
- Technical aptitude and familiarity with machining, welding, and assembly manufacturing processes.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills; professional bearing and demeanor.
- Ability to effectively manage and develop direct reports.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
- Knowledge of SolidWorks solid modeling CAD software or equivalent (Pro E, CATIA, etc.).
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office software.
- Experience using TeamCenter engineering software a plus.

Working Conditions
- Work is generally performed in a business office environment, with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office; moderate to loud in the manufacturing areas.
- Occasional (up to 10%) travel, primarily domestic.
