Engineering Manager

Jackpocket is the first mobile lottery app in the U.S. that offers players a secure way to order official state lottery tickets, such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and more, via their smartphones. We're creating a more convenient, fun, and responsible way to play the lottery by modernizing the $300B global lottery market with a mobile platform that everyone, including grandma, can feel good about.

As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in the success and continued expansion of our software development function. You will provide day to day leadership to the backend e-commerce team and work to engage, develop, and mentor your direct reports. You will also lead strategic initiatives around the delivery of technical projects and the continued expansion of the team as the business continues to grow rapidly. This is a full time position reporting to the VP of Engineering. 

Responsibilities

• Serve as a central leader for the engineering organization and support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs
• Provide day to day management and oversight to multiple teams of direct reports
• Play an active role in the implementation and improvement of engineering processes and best practices
• Provide hands on mentorship, coaching, and career development for direct reports and own strategic employee engagement and retention initiatives 
• Provide technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle
• Collaborate with senior leadership in the development and prioritization of long-term technology road maps
• Lead strategy around employer branding and recruitment for the engineering organization

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership experience in a fast paced software development environment
• Proven track record of successfully leading and expanding highly engaged and productive engineering teams
• Experience managing multiple technical teams and leading successful delivery of high quality technical solutions
• Experience managing backend and front end engineers
• Experience with RESTful and event driven services
• Experience with Ruby
• Familiarity with DevOps processes
• Working knowledge of employee engagement and recruitment strategies
• Experience leveraging AI tools for productivity is a plus 

The base compensation range for this role is $190,000 - $210,000
