BWXT's Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking a Unit Manager, Assemblies & Structurals Engineering for its Lynchburg, VA location!

As the Unit Manager, Assemblies & Structurals Engineering you will direct and define responsivities and set performance standards for a unit of six (6) technical personnel responsible for development of processes and associated procedures for the fabrication of welded assemblies. This unit additionally has six (6) technical personnel that manage all drafting related activities with the Division, including model and drawing generation, plan list development and maintenance, and maintenance of all contractual actions related to drawings.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Ensures all applicable customer technical requirements and development of procedures and routing instructions adhere to all contractual requirements.
• Delivers process instructions, generates procedures, conducts problem analysis, authors presentations, and prepares customer submittals by use of computer systems.
• Oversees and manages unit resources to meet budget and support Project Management goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Physics, Metallurgy, or other technical degree) is required.
• Must possess at least five (5) years of supervisory/leadership experience. This could include, but is not limited to, lead positions, project leadership, previous management roles in other companies, volunteer leadership experience, community involvement, prior educational leadership, informal roles, etc.
• Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with various audiences.
• Must be highly self-motivated and self-directed with keen attention to detail.
• Must possess proven ability in developing positive customer relations.
• Must have demonstrable skills and knowledge in data analysis skills and decision making.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
