Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead a senior team of engineers in developing mission-critical systems using TypeScript and Python. The ideal candidate is passionate about enhancing developer efficiency through effective planning, innovative techniques, and robust architectures. You should also be comfortable diving into challenging issues to find solutions. This position reports to the Head of Engineering and is fully remote within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the team’s overall performance, including feature delivery velocity, quality, operational excellence, hiring, retention, professional development, and team well-being.
• Implement, track, and refine team metrics to enhance processes continuously.
• Design, develop, and launch new features while improving the quality of our internal and external applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and iterate on innovative ideas.
• Ensure patient privacy by promoting secure coding practices and enforcing their application throughout the codebase.
• Support our applications and systems in a production environment.
• Work closely with the Head of Engineering to enhance the broader engineering organization.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• Proficient in running an agile process (preferably Kanban) and familiar with the agile toolkit.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and end users to translate requirements into user stories.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript (or modern JavaScript).
• Familiarity with React.
• Experience with one or more database systems, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing microservice architectures, especially on Kubernetes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in startups, especially in the health tech sector, is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a former startup founder or in a management role at a fast-growing startup.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and tools such as Airflow and dbt.
• Experience in building complex data visualization applications.
• Familiarity with Snowflake.
